Descriptions & bio
A lyric memoir in thirteen passages, in which aquatic healer Amal Lana traces how water taught her the art of surrender and the way back to herself.
A lyric memoir in thirteen passages. Aquatic healer Amal Lana traces how water, from a near-drowning to her father’s prayers to the hot springs that saved her, taught her the art of surrender and the way back to herself.
Amal Lana, whose name means “hope for us” in Arabic, is a Licensed Massage Therapist, aquatic bodyworker, water aerobics instructor and herbalist with more than 35 years of practice. Born in Southern California to a family of Palestinian refugees, she lives in Northern Arizona, where she founded Waves of Hope, a vision for an Aquatic Healing Retreat Center where access is not determined only by what someone can afford. Surrender to Self is her first book.
For publishers & agents
Surrender to Self is the first of four planned volumes, with Volume II in development, an engaged hot springs and wellness readership, and a weekly newsletter on Substack. Amal welcomes conversations about the series.
